Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
Some of our pupils might need additional support to ensure access to the whole curriculum.
To achieve this, we work in partnership with families, valuing their views and contributions and keeping them fully involved in their child’s education. The child is also involved - where possible - in decision making about their support. We believe that the effective education of pupils with SEND can only be achieved through a whole-school approach endorsed enthusiastically by all staff.

SEND curriculum
The SEND team consists of Laura Terry and Lisa Tomlin (SENDCos).
We aim to ensure that all pupils have equal opportunities and access to engage in a broad and balanced curriculum. We have a ‘whole school’ policy to support children with special educational needs, both with and without Education, Health and Care plans.
We have a skilled team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), some of whom have specialist roles to support specific areas of need such as Autism (ASD), Speech and Language (SALT) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). In addition, some members of the team support pupils specifically with curriculum areas, such as Reading, Writing and Maths.
It is the responsibility of the SENDCos to assess, identify and work with external agencies and professionals when it is necessary to support diagnosing individual needs.
