Computing
We want equip pupils with the digital skills and knowledge they need to thrive safely in today’s technology-driven world. Our Computing curriculum fosters confident, creative, and responsible learners who can explore, analyse, and present information effectively and safely.
Children develop key skills in digital literacy, computer science, and information technology. They learn to solve problems, think critically, and express themselves through technology. Online safety is embedded throughout our curriculum, ensuring pupils understand how to navigate the digital world responsibly.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to be ambitious, comprehensive, and inclusive—supporting progression from Early Years to Year 6 and meeting the needs of all learners.
How we teach computing
Computing is taught through the Kapow scheme of work, aligned with the National Curriculum. Pupils use a range of devices and software to build their knowledge and apply it in meaningful contexts. Lessons are enhanced with links across the wider curriculum and real-world applications. Online safety is reinforced through dedicated lessons, displays, PSHCE sessions, and regular communication with parents.
Pupils are assessed holistically, based on their practical work, participation, and understanding throughout the year. End-of-year judgements are shared with parents to highlight progress and next steps.
Enrichment opportunities
Our computing offer is enriched through engaging events such as an Early Years Foundation Stage technology workshop, educational workshops for all year groups, a Year 4 Cluster Coding Challenge, and after-school coding clubs.
