Ethos & Values

Our Ethos

We believe that true inclusion means every child matters – their learning, achievements, well-being and individuality are at the centre of everything we do.

We create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired. Through strong emotional support, high expectations, and a culture of mutual respect, we empower every pupil to aim high and believe in themselves.

Every child brings something unique to our community, and we celebrate those differences. We begin with each pupil’s strengths and tailor our teaching to meet their personal, social and academic needs. Learning here is dynamic, hands-on and meaningful – driven by curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and the thoughtful use of technology.

Our school is a vibrant, joyful place where children from all backgrounds and abilities can flourish. We’re committed to helping every child become the very best version of themselves, no matter their starting point.

Beyond the classroom, we encourage healthy lifestyles, a respect for the world around us, and an understanding of the diverse society we live in. We want our pupils to leave Rivermead confident, compassionate and ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of modern life.

Our Values

  • Everyone is different, everyone is valued
  • Know your strengths and understand mistakes are an important part of learning
  • It’s ok to express your feelings; it’s how you deal with them that is important
  • Be proud of who you are, your talents and achievements
  • To respect and care for self, others and the environment
  • Know we can all make a positive difference.

Our Aims: supporting all learners, both children and adults

  • To provide a vibrant, happy and safe learning environment which enables every learner to achieve the best they can regardless of gender, ethnic or social background or educational needs
  • To promote the importance of healthy lifestyles, respect for the environment and the value of personal relationships based on mutual respect
  • To prepare all learners for the responsibilities and opportunities that arise throughout life in a multi-cultural and technological society.
